Track Listing for "Mayday"

Getting Closer

Getting Ready to Get back to It

I want to give a big shoutout to Dr. David Gilbert for reconstructing my wrist and fingers, allowing me to start playing guitar again. Dr. Gilbert is not only a world-class surgeon but also a world-class soul. His attention to detail—both medically and emotionally—is over the top. He’s put me back together four times now, my son Jakob once, and countless friends I’ve recommended to him. He is the best!

An old baseball injury finally caught up with me and left me unable to play guitar for the past two months, which has been tough—especially since I need to finish my guitar tracks for the new hippies n pilots album "MayDay" (shameless promotion) with Bob Wlos at his L7 Studio. At least I got the artwork finished.

Having to stop playing, coaching, teaching baseball, and doing triathlons because my body is falling apart, songwriting has become the one thread keeping my somewhat insane mind in check.

My rock (Rain), my kids (Jakob & Zoey), friends, and family have been there for me. When I let the darkness engulf me, they shine their light with love and support and guide me out. Sometimes it takes a little longer, but I eventually find my way.

My grandpa taught me not to complain about my shoes to a man with no feet, and I know there are many souls worse off than me.

As the great, late Bon Scott of AC/DC said, “I know I ain't doing much, but doing nothing means a lot to me.”

Sending you all positive love and healing vibes!

Laying Down Basic Tracks

Confirmed from bassist Mark Herndon's post the band was in L7 Studio with legendary producer Bob Wlos.  Drummer Mark Miller, bassist Mark Herdon nor guitarist John Tweeton will confirm or deny if Spike was there but there are no pictures of him at L7?  Spike was diagnosed with severe metal poisoning in January which forced him to quit his job for over 36 years and coaching because he needed several surgeries and still is scheduled for more.  Rumor is they are working off the demos the band recorded and worked on over 5 years ago and using them as a guide in case Spike recovers.  We can only hope that the songs will see the light of day and Spike will be a part of them.

It has been writing it has been done

The boys Mark Miller, John Tweeton, Mark Herndon, & Spike got together Saturday night and decided to record 11 unfinished songs! They are going to record with Bob Wlos at his L7 studio. The tentative title is "Last Flight" or "Mayday" because we are old.

Keep you posted and it's only Rock and Roll but all we know!!
